Introducing: Game Assets!

We're extremely excited to announce the launch of Game Assets, our newest category on GraphicRiver! We've taken note of all our talented authors who have been creating high quality items with specific design and functionality suited for use in video games and game development. This Game Assets category will better showcase these unique items, and let the game development community know that GraphicRiver is the place to go for these functional and flexible assets.

We’ve further clarified our submission requirements for this new category and what it means for an item to be a Game Asset. First and foremost, to be accepted as a Game Asset your item must be game specific, with game relevant design, layout, and features. If your item is not created specifically for use in games, it should simply be submitted to the appropriate non-game asset GraphicRiver category as usual.

We’ve also already identified and recategorized a number of our current items as Game Assets. If you believe your existing item also qualifies as a Game Asset and would like it moved to this new category, please let us know here.

Finally, to celebrate this exciting launch, we've put a $5,000 bounty on the head of Envato's most wanted file type - Game Assets on GraphicRiver.

What's The Reward!

We’re running a Best Item Contest, where authors of all new Game Assets submitted between August 28th and October 9th will have a chance to win the following cash prizes:

Best Complete Game Kits

  • $1,000 Grand Prize Winner:
  • $750 Runner Up
  • $500 3rd Place
  • $250 4th Place
  • $100 5th Place

In order to be eligible for the above prizes, complete Game Kits must include all assets needed to successfully create a full game concept, including sprites, tilesets, user interfaces, and backgrounds (as applicable).

We also have prizes for individual game asset types, including:

Best Game Sprites
  • $300 1st Place
  • $200 2nd Place
  • $100 3rd Place
Best Game Tilesets
  • $300 1st Place
  • $200 2nd Place
  • $100 3rd Place
Best Game User Interfaces
  • $300 1st Place
  • $200 2nd Place
  • $100 3rd Place
Best Game Backgrounds
  • $300 1st Place
  • $200 2nd Place
  • $100 3rd Place

It’s a Contest!

This Envato’s Most Wanted is a contest. And like any contest, you don’t want to be disqualified because you didn’t follow the rules. So as well as carefully following the procedure below, make sure you read the Terms & Conditions in full!

Here are the key details:

  • Submit your items on or after Thursday, August 28th and before the competition closes on Thursday, October 9th at 23.59 AEST time.
  • The winning files will get a share of $5,000.
  • Envato staff to vote on prize winners.
  • Authors can enter as many items as they wish.
  • Multiple submissions from the same author must be different to one another.
  • Authors can win multiple category prizes for different items.
  • If only one (1) item is submitted to a prize category, this does not mean the item will win by default.
  • All winners will also receive the much-desired "Won a Contest" badge.
  • Final eligibility on entries for prizes are determined by Envato staff.
  • Prizes are payable only via PayPal or Moneybookers/Skrill.

We’ll announce the winners a week or two after the event closes, and send out the prizes two or three weeks after that. So, let’s get started. To be in the running, follow our procedure to the letter!

How to Submit Your Items

What to Do After Your Items Are Approved

Once your items have been approved, do the following as soon as you can:

  • Complete the Most Wanted Entry Agreement. By doing this, you agree to keep any winning entries online for a minimum of two years.
  • Post your approved entries in this thread.

quick question, can submissions be made with psd? :slight_smile:
Like what i mean to say is that it will all be done with vector shape tool and layer styles and stuff, will it be a problem? :slight_smile:

I think it is possible. In Game Assets Submission Requirements it stated “Depending on the nature of the assets you have created, Game Asset items should follow the technical requirements outlined in our Vectors and/or Graphics submission requirements.”

This category will accept both SVG and PSD items. With the PSD items, you will need to take extra care in optimising them for screen and making sure the elements are all on separate layers and easy to edit. This is the same as items in the Graphics category, so I’m sure it won’t be any trouble :wink:

So, as long as your Game Kit has the same theme for all the elements, that’s fine :slight_smile: If you want to upload individual game assets, they will be judged separately to the Game Kits.

Yep, as Kate says a Game Kit should only include assets intended as part of the same theme/game. But the Most Wanted contest itself is open to Game Assets items of any style or genre! Shooters, builders, platformers, puzzlers, sci-fi, fantasy, adventure, casual, kid friendly, retro, and anything else you can think of! :slight_smile:
