We've put $10,000 bounty on the heads of Envato's most wanted file type - Layers Child Themes on ThemeForest.

The Best 20 Child Themes win $500 each

The Best 20 Best Layers Child Themes (voted by Envato staff) will win $500 per Theme

What we are looking for:

  • We are looking for all types of Layers Child themes. From multi-purpose to niche and everything inbetween.
  • We are looking for unique, well designed Layers Child Themes. Any special features or extras will help your chances to win a prize.
  • Converting existing Site Templates and PSD's into Layers Child Themes are eligible. (If you have an existing WordPress version of a site template or PSD. You cannot convert this item)

To help you get started:

Layers Child Themes must include the following to be eligible:

  • Items must include a live demo: An amazing live demo will help your chances of winning a prize. For example, choosing a great image and using relatable text ( no placer text such as lorem ipsum) will make your theme stand out.
  • Item page must be well presented and include a good description of the features.

It’s a Contest!

This Envato’s Most Wanted is a contest. And like any contest, you don’t want to be disqualified because you didn’t follow the rules. So as well as carefully following the procedure below, make sure you read the details in full!

Here are the key details:

  • Submit your items on or after Thursday April 30th, and before the competition closes on Wednesday, July 1st at 23.59 AEST time.
  • The winning files will get a share of $10,000.
  • Envato staff to vote on prize winners.
  • An author can enter as many items as they wish.
  • An author win a maximum of two (2) "Best 20 Prizes".
  • All winners will receive the much-desired "Won a Most Wanted Contest" badge.
  • Final eligibility of entries for prizes are determined by Envato staff.
  • Multiple submissions from the same author must be different to one another.
  • Prizes are payable only via PayPal or Moneybookers/Skrill.

We’ll announce the winners a week or two after the event closes, and send out the prizes two or three weeks after that. So, let’s get started. To be in the running, follow our procedure to the letter!

How to Submit Your Items

What to Do After Your Items Are Approved

Once your items have been approved, do the following as soon as you can:

  • Complete the Most Wanted Entry Agreement. By doing this, you agree to keep any winning entries online for a minimum of two years.
  • Post your approved entries in this thread.

Q: Are we allowed to create a child theme of our current approved WordPress themes? I ask this question, because it seems that an author already done that. http://themeforest.net/attributes/framework/Layers%20WP

It’s looks simple. Generated 2 pages within few minutes. But kinda limited in functionallity.
It goes like a theme , is it valid? Can I as designer do it without developer or I still have to find someone to check validations? Or if it’s widget ready, and everything going via customizer - I don’t need any dev?

Anyway, I am not sure if it’s just a typo. In functions.php around line 102, You should use :

get_stylesheet_directory_uri()
instead of : 
get_stylesheet_directory()

So do you need to add options etc and theme development, or can you just build good looking demo content?

Great! If I don’t want to join this contest, am I allowed to use Layers WP framework and upload the theme into category WordPress > Corporate?

Hey there,

The ideal Child Theme adds CSS, uses the hooks and extends the customizer options. Theme Options aren’t necessary, but adding preset layouts certainly are.

I am playing around this and I do not see the row settings here, where can I add a row with bg image and 4 columns in it?

Yesterday approved so many ( about 10) layers themes on the market. Was it in a day intentionally?

I tried the framework and looks good but bit limited to create fully functional sites. Anyway hope many people interests it
