What Are Template Kits?
Template Kits is a new category of pre-designed templates for use with a WordPress page builder. While the term was originally coined by Envato when we launched our WordPress plugin in 2018, it has been adopted more widely in the WordPress community. Using a Template Kit, which includes a range of templates for everything from homepages to contact pages, you can create a professional WordPress website in no time.
A template kit contains professional, cohesive designs; with pages and content blocks for each section of your website—all built with a WordPress page builder.

Built for Elementor
For launch, we put the call out to our community of authors to create Template Kits for Elementor, the world’s leading page builder, but we’ll be rolling out Template Kits across other page builders, including WordPress Gutenberg in the future. Envato’s GM of Content Cameron Gough explains, “Elementor has created a great product and they have done a great job at building a large active base of customers globally and customer demand is high for Template Kits compatible with this page builder. However, we fully expect to support multiple page builders within our new Template Kits category.”
Template Kits & Themes
Template Kits are a code-free and fully flexible design layer of a website, which means you can bring professional layouts and limitless customisation without design or coding knowledge. An Elementor compatible WordPress theme is required to support Template Kits, however all customisation is done with drag and drop functionality, making it easy to create your dream website.
While there are free themes available to use through the page builder, you can also add Template Kits to the Elementor compatible themes available on Envato ThemeForest.
Not only can you quickly build a website from scratch using Template Kits, they give you the ability to add new designs and layouts to your existing website. They leverage the power of a single WordPress page builder and are tailored to specific industries and visual styles.

- Install and activate Elementor
You’ll need to install and activate a free version of the Elementor page builder plugin. - Add an Elementor template to your page
Next, you need to select a WordPress page where you’d like to add an Elementor template kit. Find your page, edit with Elementor, and select a template kit from the library. - Customise the Elementor template
Finally, make the template your own with customization, from the layout to the content. And save your changes to finish.
